It has been said, "Learning is more than gathering information." Processed information used in a fitting manner at an appropriate time and place produces priceless results and fuels wisdom. On the other hand, open source and web technology provides us with an excess of information resulting in sensory overload. In this regard, we must develop efficiency and tap into the teaching and guidance mechanisms of insightful experts within the domain of Information Technology (IT).

The Institute of Information Technology (IIT) produces IT personnel equipped with a savvy perception, sense of responsibility and problem solving skills to meet development goals. We prepare students to participate skillfully in the fast paced competitive world and enhance the way government organizations exchange information and services between themselves and their citizens. At the same time, we also encourage interested students to supplement a strong knowledge of IT principles with the understanding of their role, where applicable, in sustainable development. IIT essentially mentors students in molding themselves into better human beings. At this very moment, our graduates work in government offices, non governmental organizations, and the private sector. They also perform research in areas such as internet governance, innovative mobile technology, information security, and last but certainly not least, they serve in this very institute as faculty members. Some of them have proceeded abroad for higher education to become outstanding technologists, scientists, critical and analytical thinkers, and future corporate leaders. We understand that by making universities a more attractive place for both faculty and graduate students, the likelihood of a seed-corn problem measures low. The triangle of government, industry, and academia must work together to achieve superior results.

Information Technology is not a discipline merely taught in one particular institute. It serves as a tool for information processing, communicating, analysis and management, and therefore, generally applicable across all disciplines and professions. We encourage quality services, solutions, and the creation of new knowledge. Not only do we look forward to seeing our graduates get involved in original and productive research but we also guide them in integrating that research and using it to move themselves and their organizations forward.
